Academy Drive or Academy Road?

Where it is

The market's own site writes the address as 2024 Academy Drive; Lowcountry Local First writes Academy Rd, and the U.S. Census Bureau's street file matches either spelling to 2024 Academy Rd. Both name the Charleston Collegiate School campus.[1,2,4]

The other pins are nearby farms and stands; each number matches the farm map, and each pin opens that farm’s card.

2018 to now

From the Johns Island Farmers Market to the Sea Island Farmers Market

  1. May 2018

The Johns Island Farmers Market, run by co-founders Frasier Block and Blue Laughters, moved to year-round Saturdays, 9:30–1:30, on the Charleston Collegiate campus, with a “Truth & Transparency” standard for its vendors.[5,6]

  2. End of 2019

    The founders closed the market.[6]

  3. Feb 1, 2020

The vendors reopened it as the Sea Island Farmers Market, on Charleston Collegiate School property, led by Eric Rogers and Kristy Bialas of Two Fat Cooks. City Paper reported more than 30 vendors.[6,7]

  4. 2026

    Saturdays, 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, year-round, per Lowcountry Local First's 2026 guide.[2]

Who sells there

The market's site doesn't post a current vendor list. It has a Be A Vendor page and a newsletter.[1]

At the 2020 reopening, the farms on the vendor list included Fireant, Kindlewood, Island Produce and G&S Produce. That list is six years old, so check the market's newsletter for this season's.[7]
