The short answer
Can I play golf on Kiawah without staying at the resort?
Yes. Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s five courses — the Ocean Course, Osprey Point, Turtle Point, Cougar Point and Oak Point — are open to the public. If you aren’t staying with the resort you can book up to 60 days ahead, online or at (800) 576-1570. The Kiawah Island Club’s River Course and Cassique are for members and their guests.
- Seabrook Island: Only as a Seabrook Island Club member, a member’s guest, or a renter staying in a Club-associated property with the Club’s amenity pass. Guests book up to 3 days ahead, from noon; mornings are for members. Call the Golf Pro Shop at (843) 768-2529.
- Off the islands: the City of Charleston’s Municipal Golf Course, “the Muni,” on James Island is public and books up to 7 days ahead; the Links at Stono Ferry and Shadowmoss sell public tee times online.
- The Ocean Course has a page of its own: every hole in 3D, with the live wind and tide.

The course
Rebuilt in 2020, on Raynor’s templates
Work ran from January to the fall of 2020, and the course reopened on December 9, 2020. Local architect Troy Miller rebuilt it with Seth Raynor–style template holes — a Redan, Eden, Short, Cape, Road and Punch Bowl — the kind of holes Raynor built at the Country Club of Charleston down Maybank Highway. How this page is made
- Every line comes from the course’s or club’s own page, its scorecard, or the USGA’s course rating database, and links to it. Nothing is ranked.
- Yards are the scorecard’s; course rating and slope are the USGA’s. Some cards print longer tees than the USGA rated — then both are shown.
- Each booking link was opened on October 13, 2026 and showed a tee sheet. Prices change; the date each was read is beside it.
- Course maps are drawn from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors) where it maps the course and its holes; courses it doesn’t carry have no map.
- Course, club and resort names are used only to say where things are. The Johns Islander isn’t connected to any of them.
