Oyster season is open through May 15
South Carolina's recreational shellfish season opened October 1.

Recreational harvest of oysters and clams opened half an hour before sunrise on Thursday, October 1, 2026, and runs through May 15, 2027, unless the state extends or shortens it. A saltwater recreational fishing license is required.
Why it matters: Roast season is here; check the state's shellfish map for open beds before you pick.
